After finishing the season 13-18 and missing the postseason, you had to believe that Notre Dame men’s basketball would see some roster movement, and the first domino fell on Tuesday.

Sophomore guard Sir Mohammed has entered the transfer portal according to On3’s Joe Tipton, as he’ll look for more of an opportunity elsewhere. The North Carolina native entered the program with big expectations, after being ranked as the No. 68 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite in the 2024 class.

During his freshman season, Mohammed showed plenty of promise, starting eight games while scoring 3.1 points-per-game in limited minutes. An injury slowed him down, that season, but this past year he couldn’t find a groove. He played in all 31 games, but the production resulted in 5.7 points-per-game and almost identical rebound and assists numbers.

Mohammed has the size and ability to be a great player, but unfortunately, he won’t get a chance to live up to his potential in South Bend.
