Notre Dame added a deep and talented group of freshman receivers to the roster for 2026, and one of the most talented is Georgia native Bubba Frazier. He impressed during the spring and has a chance to be a playmaker for the Irish on offense and special teams.

Here is our season preview and profile for Frazier:

BUBBA FRAZIER PROFILE

Class/Eligibility: Freshman / Freshman
Height/Weight: 5-10, 182
Hometown/High School: Savannah, Ga./Benedictine Military

IB EVALUATION

"Notre Dame needs to add playmakers to the offense, especially those who can do damage after the catch, and that’s exactly what they got in Frazier. He does everything in the Benedictine offense over the last two seasons. Frazier lines up outside, in the slot, at running back and he’s an impact return man. Over the last three seasons Frazier has caught 141 passes for 2,137 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 1,163 rushing yards and 14 more scores.

"Frazier has run a 10.5 in the 100-meter dash and that big time speed translates to the football field extremely well. He’s a legit threat to score from any part of the field thanks to that big time speed, explosive change of direction skills and impressive strength. Frazier makes a lot of plays in the screen game and on jet sweeps or runs out of the backfield, but there’s a lot more to his game than that. He’s an impressive route runner with legit wide receiver skills as both a route runner and pass catcher. Frazier is also an impact punt and kick returner that adds a lot of special teams value to the class. This is one of my favorite prospects in the class."

FALL CAMP PREVIEW

Frazier had a strong spring in the slot, and his athletic skill, style and playmaking ability is something the Irish don't have much of on the roster right now. Fall camp is about Frazier building on the success he had in the spring. It's about continuing to show an expanded grasp of the offense, continuing to improve his route running and get stronger. If he does that, Frazier will have a chance to put himself in position to earn legit playing time as a true freshman receiver. Even if he can't crack the rotation at receiver, a strong fall camp could put Frazier in position to earn a spot in the return game. He's electric with the ball in his hands and could be a major weapon in the return game.

2026 EXPECTATIONS

In past years Frazier would have been an easy pick to play as a freshman, but the current depth chart is loaded. That will make it more difficult for him to work up the depth chart with players like Jordan Faison, Jaden Greathouse, Mylan Graham and Elijah Burress ahead of him. But Frazier's combination of explosive speed and agility is impressive, and as I said above there isn't much like him on the roster. That gives him a chance to make an impact despite so much veteran talent ahead of him. My expectation for Frazier is that he continues to grow as a player throughout the season, that he shows off his playmaking skills and either forces the coaches to play him, or forces the veteran players to perform at a high level in order to keep him from passing them up. Either way, Frazier having a good first season will improve the receiver room.

Where I do expect Frazier to make more of a splash is in the return game. With Jadarian Price off to the NFL, I would not be at all surprised to see Frazier push hard to win the starting kick return job. Notre Dame could also decide to limit Faison's exposure to more hits as the primary punt returner and give Frazier a shot to handle the job. If he can consistently catch the ball, Frazier has all the tools you want in a big time return man.

A GOOD SEASON FOR FRAZIER WOULD BE ....

One in which he builds on his strong spring and carries his playmaking skills into the fall. It's one in which his grasp of the offense continues to improve and he makes it very hard for the coaches to not play him. It's a season in which he works his way onto the field as a returner and makes sure the Irish continue having an explosive return game.
