CUMBERLAND — Landon Yoder fanned 12 in a shutout performance to lead Northern to a 5-0 victory over Cumberland Optimist in a Senior Division game on Friday at Washington Middle.
Yoder held Optimist to five hits and walked one in a six-inning complete game.
Emmitt Lipscomb, Hunter Beitzel and Elliott Myers-Shirer had two hits and two RBIs each for Northern, and Myers-Shirer doubled.
Optimist’s five hits were all singles. Liam Buck was dealt the loss on the mound, allowing a run on one hit in two innings of work. He struck out four and walked one.
Optimist hosts American Woodmark on Tuesday. Northern faces Riverside Sports on Wednesday.
Riverside 6 Mettiki 4
OAKLAND — Back-to-back RBI knocks by Coye Resh and Colt Resh were the difference in Riverside Sports’ win over Mettiki Coal on Friday at Southern High.
The teams entered the sixth and final inning tied at 4. Coye Resh gave Riverside the lead with a go-ahead single, and Colt Resh doubled in another run a batter later.
Carson Durst had two hits, and Jamie Ringler had two runs batted in for Riverside.
Coye Resh allowed four runs on four hits over five frames, struck out seven and walked four to earn the victory on the mound. Ringler tossed a scoreless sixth for the save.
Dane Van Slyke went 2 for 2 with a double for Mettiki, and Preston Winters had two RBIs.
Jacob Welch was dealt the loss on the bump. Jaxon Glotfely had a no decision, allowing four unearned runs on two hits in four innings.
Mettiki hosts Growden Heating and Cooling on Monday at 6 p.m. Riverside hosts Northern on Wednesday.

LONACONING — Jacob VanMeter stranded the tying run on third base with a strikeout to send Growden Heating and Cooling to a win over American Woodmark on Friday at Westmar Middle.
Growden scored three runs in the top of the seventh to push its lead to 7-2 — just enough to absorb American Woodmark’s four-run bottom half.
Cam Hook was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for Growden, Christian Riley singled three times, Braden Martin and VanMeter had two hits each, Issac Growden doubled, and Levi Bowles tallied two runs batted in.
Riley pitched six innings to earn the win, surrendering two runs on eight hits with nine strikeouts and four walks.
Jaren Vasquez doubled twice for American Woodmark, Nathan Miller had a three-hit game and Bryson Kumpach was 2 for 3 with a double.
Krumpach pitched a complete game. The right-hander allowed seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits with 13 strikeouts and two walks in seven frames.
Growden is at Mettiki Coal on Tuesday at 6 p.m. American Woodmark faces Cumberland Optimist on Tuesday night.
Junior Division Flintstone 11 Cresaptown 1
FLINTSTONE — Flintstone plated five in the first inning and Silas Leith tossed a gem in a rout of Cresaptown in a Hot Stove Junior Division game on Friday.
Brody Norris, Easton Conley and Lincoln Hendershot doubled for Flintstone, Norris had two hits and drove in three, Noah Swadley was 2 for 3 with two ribbies, and Conley garnered a pair of hits.
Leith pitched a complete game, allowing a run on two hits in six innings, striking out four and walking one.
Flintstone battles Frankfort at Memorial Field on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
