After surprisingly appearing on the Oregon Ducks' Thursday night availability report with a "questionable" tag, running back Noah Whittington has been listed as a game-time decision 90 minutes before the team's matchup with the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff Semifinals. The exact injury is undisclosed.

Once seen as arguably the deepest in the country, the Ducks' running back room has been hit hard this week by injuries and transfer portal entrants. Both Makhi Hughes and Jayden Limar recently entered the portal while Da'Jaun Riggs and Jordon Davison are listed as "out." Reserve Jay Harris, who is also officially in the portal, is with the team in Atlanta and will suit up, per head coach Dan Lanning.

Another expected listing on the availability report is Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart, who is still listed as out despite warming up with the team ahead of their first-round matchup with James Madison.

Whittington's presence in the game is paramount for Oregon, as he leads the team in carries (129), rushing yards (829) and is second in rush touchdowns (six) while serving as the bell-cow for the nation's 15th-ranked rushing attack.

If the sixth-year senior is forced to miss the game with the undisclosed injury, the onus will be on true freshman Dierre Hill Jr. and redshirt junior Harris to receive a lion-share of the carries, a position that neither has been in this season. Hill's career-high in carries is 10 while Harris' career-high at the Division-I level is seven, though he was a Division-II All-American in 2023 and rushed for nearly 1,400 yards and 23 touchdowns in 20 games at Northwest Missouri State.

With the most important game of the season coming up, it appears that the Ducks won't know if their top rusher will be a go until the final moments before kickoff.
