CLEVELAND — Inclement weather prevented the new Cleveland Guardians minority owner from making his debut with a ceremonial first pitch before a game against the Detroit Tigers on Sunday, June 14.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Cleveland Heights native Travis Kelce bought a stake in the Guardians on May 27, and to celebrate he had planned to be back in his hometown for Sunday's game.

But the Guardians announced 40 minutes before the game's scheduled start it had been postponed until 2:10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, as part of a split doubleheader.

Although neither Kelce nor his music superstar fiancé Taylor Swift made a public appearance at Progressive Field Sunday, the ceremonial first pitch will be rescheduled at some point.
