No Real Madrid players included in Spain's World Cup squad

Luis De La Fuente has named his squad for the 2026 World Cup which for the first time doesn't feature a Real Madrid player representing Spain.

It's been a relatively tough season for Real Madrid and that's reflected in the fact that no players have been called up to the Spanish side with defender Dean Huijsen, the most likely candidate to feature, not among the 26 players called up.

Instead, Atlético de Madrid defender Marc Pubill features as a centre-back option alongside Aymeric Laporte, Eric García, and Pau Cubarsí.

There are seven Premier League stars selected for this summer's squad with with three from champions Arsenal: David Raya, Mikel Merino, and Martín Zubimendi as well as Chelsea's Marc Cucurella, Tottenham's Pedro Porro, Manchester City man Rodri, and Yeremy Pino of Crystal Palace.

The 2010 winners will begin their World Cup campaign on June 15th against Cabo Verde before facing Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
