Running back Tyler Allgeier, when he signed a two-year deal worth more than $12 million to join the Arizona Cardinals in free agency, probably saw the opportunity to be a starter and lead back. He spent the last three seasons as the other running back in the Atlanta Falcons' offense, overshadowed by star Bijan Robinson.
However, things sort of changed with the draft, as the Cardinals selected Jeremiyah Love third overall.
Did that upset him?
"It's not like there's any bad blood or anything," Allgeier told reporters on Thursday. "I think just building that relationship, we're pretty close right now, too."
He has been building a relationship with Love both on and off the field.
He is a competitor, but he doesn't believe in being bitter.
"There's no point in being a jerk about it because that's not really going to get you anywhere."
He likes the running back room the Cardinals have right now. He also should feel pretty secure in the fact that he will have an important role in the offense. Whether he is the first to get carries or whether he has a similar role to what he had in Atlanta, his steadiness in approach will be a benefit to the team.
