SHORT GAP, W.Va. — It was all Keyser against Mineral County rival Frankfort, and it didn't matter who the Golden Tornado had on the floor.
Keyser pulled its starters for good leading 57-20 with 3:46 remaining in the third quarter, and from there, the Tornado substitutes outscored Frankfort, 22-12, to win running away.
Bibs Felton, Austyn Healy, Kiya Kesner and Ainsley Friend garnered double figures to lead a pack of 11 Keyser scorers, as the balanced second-ranked Golden Tornado rolled 79-32 on Monday night.
"Our defense was really good. Our pressure the first three or four minutes I thought was very effective," Keyser head coach Josh Blowe said. "It caused a lot of trouble, a lot of chaos in the backcourt.
"I loved our ball movement. I feel like our ball movement against Frankfort, the two games we played them, have been the best two ball movement games we've had all season."
Keyser (15-2) pushed its winning streak to six games, a stretch that includes a 70-20 romp of Frankfort (9-9) at home on Jan. 22.
Felton led all scorers with 19 points, all of which came in the first half, Healy added 14, Kesner scored 13 and Friend chipped in 10. Frankfort was led by Angel Arnold's 11 points, and Erica Metcalf tallied seven.
Keyser buried 11 triples, a season high, topped by Healy's four treys and two each by Felton and Suzy Cosenza.
The Golden Tornado came out in a full-court press, causing a series of Frankfort turnovers before they mercifully retired the defense for good after taking a 14-0 lead.
Keyser led 20-4 after a quarter, 46-17 at the half and 61-20 entering the final period.
With the help of its 1-3-1 zone defense, Keyser got out on the fast break early and often, jumping passing lanes to turn defense into offense.
"We're trying to even play faster than we had the last couple years," Blowe said. "That goes down to trying to get your team prepared for hopefully a state tournament bid and a state tournament run.
"That's how teams play ... across the state, it's pressure. It's up and down the floor, and that's how we try to practice every day."
Keyser's bench outscored Frankfort, 27-12. The Golden Tornado had more reserves score (seven) than starters (four), led by Friend's 10 points and Cosenza's six.
Carlee Staggs and Mariah Stewart sunk 3-pointers off the bench, and Ava Barrick shined on the defensive end.
"We have a philosophy and a culture here where no matter the score, whether you're down 30 or up 30, we play smart, we play focused and we play with energy," Blowe said.
Frankfort will look to bounce back when it hosts Calvary Christian Academy (2-11) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Keyser is at No. 5 Hampshire (12-6) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
The Golden Tornado beat the Trojans, 65-46, in the teams' first meeting on Jan. 29 in Keyser.
