New Mexico State will not hold a spring game during its spring football slate, joining others around the country doing the same.
The Aggies will instead hold a "Fan Fest" from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, April 10, at Aggie Memorial Stadium. The event will serve as NM State's primary fan engagement event during spring football. It will include a "yard sale" where fans can buy Under Armour Aggies gear, autograph sessions with players, meet and greets, a "kids zone" and "skills stations". Fans will also have the chance to "grab exclusive and custom gear" at the Fan Fest.
The Fan Fest marks another way NM State is attempting to try something new during spring football. It attempted this last year by holding its spring game in Artesia to appeal to its southern New Mexican fans outside of Las Cruces. However, things didn't go to plan as cold, rainy and icy conditions meant almost no one attended the spring game.

The Aggies began their spring football schedule on Monday, March 2, and will hold 11 more practices between now and Thursday, April 9, before the Fan Fest. NM State will also hold four closed scrimmages on unspecified dates.
The Aggies will enter their third season under coach Tony Sanchez's guidance in the 2026 campaign after going 4-8 (2-6 Conference USA) last season. NM State will begin its 2026 season on Aug. 29 against Florida State on the road before playing FCS Mercyhurst on Sept. 5 at home, Hawaii on Sept. 12 on the road, and New Mexico on Sept. 26 at home.
CUSA schedules have not been released yet, likely due to there not being an official announcement on whether Louisiana Tech will join the Sun Belt Conference ahead of the 2026 season or if it will stay in CUSA for one more year. Bulldogs leaders say they will join on July 1, while CUSA says LA Tech did not provide an adequate 14-month notice of departure and must stay until 2027.
