The Arizona Cardinals might be bad, too. Carson Palmer is 37 — he’s fading — and they don’t have a quality backup quarterback. Drew Stanton is just a guy. Plus, their best defensive player, Calais Campbell, just signed with the 3-13 Jacksonville Jaguars because he feels they have more young talent and a brighter future than Arizona. Really.

I don't disagree with his opening statement, but he's calling the Cards & Rams 4 potential wins for the 2017 Niners, and that last statement about Campbell, is there any truth to it? I never saw anything where Campbell indicated he was leaving due to "more young talent and a brighter future" in Jacksonville?? Gimme a break! And Campbell was our "best defensive player"? Highly debatable.

The Niners will stink on ice again in '17, I still give them 2-4 wins. They have a rookie HC & GM, a meddling owner & his right-hand man (Paraag Marathe) who can't keep their paws off the football operation, and Brian freaking Hoyer at starting QB.

Sounds like 9er fans want company besides the Browns in the NFL cellar

Grant Cohn writes to get clicks, don't fall for it.
You can throw him in the same group as his dad, Tim K, Ray Ratto. bleh

My bay area buddy who sent it to me mistakenly credited Lowell - I saw as I was posting here that it was actually Grant. I read his dad for years, first at the LA Times, then at the SF Chronicle. Truly a provocoteur, and mostly full of crap. Nice to see Grant carrying on the family tradition.

No, not really. CC chased the money, nothing more.

Some guy said stuff. Whoop-de-doo1

It's not as if it was John Madden or Bill Walsh was offering sage insight.

Campbell was our "best defensive player"? Highly debatable.

No its not. CC was our best D player in 2016, without question.

Cards fans, and most NFL fans, dont appreciate what 3-4 DE/DTs do. Because they dont get 15 sacks, its easy to dismiss them.

CC was the David Johnson of our defense. Everything was built on his shoulders. CC demanded double, triple teams sometimes. That allowed Chandler and Golden to get sacks.

CC was one of the 5 best defensive players in the entire NFL last year. Thats why I was so adamant about resigning him. Its the reason the Jags gave a 30 year old player a massive deal because hes an all-pro elite talent.

I even think the Browns will be better than SF.

They beefed up that offensive line. If they don't go quarterback with the 12 pick they could potentially add two impact players on defense. I could see the Browns winning 5-6 games this year. I think the Niners will be lucky to win 4.
The article has some truth to it and we all know where are seasons going if Palmer gets injured or falls off a cliff.

Drew Stanton is just a guy...that beats the Niners.

Niners fans... So adorable.

Whatever happened to Gohard? I'm sure he'll be back when they are good again, like all Niner fans. :p
