Denver Broncos pass rusher Nik Bonitto has placed himself among the best in the NFL, and many around the league are taking increasing notice of his game.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler surveyed NFL executives, coaches and scouts to rank the top 10 pass-rushers in the NFL, and Bonitto made the cut, ranked 10th. This is Bonitto's first appearance in the top 10, as he was named an honorable mention in 2024.
"He's got maybe the best get-off in the league," said a high-ranking personnel evaluator with an NFL team, according to Fowler. "Serious closing speed. He's on the quarterback as soon as the ball's snapped. Good spin move and excellent lower-body flexibility."
Bonitto has gotten better with time, after an extremely rough rookie season where he only recorded 1.5 sacks in 15 games. Since 2023, Bonitto has racked up 35.5 sacks, including a career-high 14 sacks in 2025, good for fifth-most in the NFL last fall. Bonitto's production explosion was key in receiving a four-year, $106 million contract extension ahead of the 2025 season.
Bonitto led all Broncos in sacks last fall, and the team finished the year with 11 more sacks than the next-closest team, breaking a franchise record for sacks (68), though falling just short of the single-season sack record set by the 1984 Chicago Bears (72). However, defensive lineman Zach Allen predicted the Broncoswill break the all-time single-season sack record in 2026.
ESPN's list included several other talented pass-rushers, including the least surprising No. 1: new Los Angeles Rams star Myles Garrett. One other AFC West foe made it on the list: Las Vegas Raiders edge defender Maxx Crosby. Crosby's offseason was certainly an eventful one; being traded to the Baltimore Ravens, and then having the trade revoked because of a "failed physical," according to the Ravens.
Bonitto seeks his second All-Pro appearance in 2026, falling just one point shy of the honor in 2025. To earn that, Bonitto looks to once again lead a fearsome Broncos defense in sacks going into the 2026 season.
