The 2026 Major League Baseball regular season will begin in one week on March 25. One game will be contested on opening day between San Francisco and the Yankees at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California (8:05 p.m. EDT, Netflix).
Former Tennessee head coach Tony Vitello is in his first season as the Giants' manager.
San Francisco (16-8) and the Dodgers (18-8) played a spring training game on Wednesday at Camelback Ranch - Glendale in Phoenix, Arizona. Los Angeles defeated the Giants, 5-1.
Former Vol Nick Senzel played third base for the Dodgers and went 1-for-1. He hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning off Trevor McDonald with one out.
Former Vol Drew Gilbert also played in the contest at left field for San Francisco. He did not record any statistics.
Vitello served as Tennessee's head coach from 2018-25 and compiled a 341–131 (125–85 SEC) record. He won one national championship (2024), two SEC regular-season championships (2022, 2024) and two SEC Tournament titles (2022, 2024).
