PHILADELPHIA -- As the Philadelphia 76ers move forward into the offseason and have their eyes set on the 2025-26 season, there are some questions that need to be answered.

One interesting question is the possibility of coach Nick Nurse turning to 3-guard lineups ad whether it can work on the floor. The Sixers will have Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, and possibly Quentin Grimes (restricted free agent) all in the rotation next season. All three players are dynamic off the dribble, can get to their spots with ease, and can put the ball in the basket from all three levels.

The Sixers could go small in the future and turn to all three guards in some lineups in order to make things happen on the offensive end. That is a possibility Nurse pondered as an early offseason got underway.

"Absolutely sure on Tyrese and really, really sure on Jared," Nurse began. "I think his confidence level and just the way he’s attacked this rehab and ready to go and work hard. Obviously, Q is a little bit of a different situation. I think he played great. I love his fire. I love his competitiveness. I love his bounce. He’s got some strength. He’ll work at the defensive end as well."

Grimes was fantastic for the Sixers after the trade. He averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in 28 games while scoring 40+ points twice including a career-high 46 against the Houston Rockets. His size and ball-handling ability will make lineups with Maxey and McCain work and give Nurse some options.

All season long, Nurse has stated in the past he would like for Grimes and McCain to take on more ball-handling responsibilities in the future.

"You guys heard me mention this this season, I love it, and I think that’s probably the case, if all three of them are back, then Grimes and McCain play some backup point guard as well," Nurse added. "Again, just keeping in mind, just the size factor as well a little bit. So yeah, I think it could work."

The offseason will be interesting for the Sixers as they look to bounce back from a disastrous season and the 3-guard lineups appear to be on the mind of Nurse in the future.
