It's never to early to start lobbying the Cardinals (Jim O - you here?), FoxSportsAZ, DirecTV and the NFL to convince them not to enter into any stupid arrangements that black out preseason games on FoxSportsAZ.

You can tell from this board that a lot of us invest a lot of time and energy in the offseason following the prospects & scoping out the draft picks and UDFA's. The real enjoyment comes when you get to see these dudes competing in real time under game conditions.

To then dial up FoxSportsAZ from a distant locale, only to discover they blacked out the game on DirecTV makes no sense - airing the game nationwide via satellite doesn't erode local ratings. And what better way to build a broader national fan base THAN TO LET PEOPLE ACTUALLY SEE THE CARDINALS PLAY! (Lord knows - they're not going to get the opportunity during the regular season unless they subscribe to Sunday Ticket).

Meanwhile, some of us (BRS included) will continue to post updates as to possible air-dates of the preseason games (including the Charger game - that often is aired on the DirecTV west coast feed on channel 381).

I just hope this coming year, we don't run into the same old same old.

Jim O - NOW is the time to have the Cardinal staff go over the TV contracts to avoid any misunderstandings or poor decisions that result in blackouts inadvertently occurring. (Note - Often when you contact Fox or DirecTV to complain about a blackout, they claim it wasn't their intention to do that - it was just some quirky contractual arrangement between the team, the cable-channel and DirecTV that gunked up the works).

One possible solution would be to make preseason games part of the Sunday Ticket package (either for an extra $10 bucks/year or for free).

I know - and worst of all its the last game, after several cuts have been made! And you need to play the starters to tune them up for the regular season.

We should be OK.

Usually, it's the 3rd game where you play your starters for a half to three quarters.

The 4th game is before the final major cut, and teams tend to play their starters for one or two series and then let the battles for roster spots take over - usually among the bottom 20 guys on the roster.

Still - I think they should fire the guy who agreed to play Minnesota on their turf ever again - plain and simple a case of terminal dummass.

Agree with Jeff Gollin on both counts

...definitely need to have all 4 pre-season games available on FoxSportsAZ for us out-of-towners; checking out the teh draft picks, UFA, and other new arrivals is the sole joy of these pre-season games.

Even more so regarding the @ Minnesota pre-season game. I refuse to believe for one second that the NFL demanded we play this game....there must have been some opportunity for input, at which time Mr. Bidwill (or whichever ******* he put in charge of team operations) offered none. What a joke. We already paid the ultimate price for playing a PS game there, the NFL should be sharing that wonderful gift.

I'm all for pulling a St. Bonaventure on that game.
