We are just under two months away from the actual 2026 NFL draft, and the mock drafts have already gotten a bit boring for the Arizona Cardinals, at least in those created by analysts for NFL.com. The Cardinals have the third overall pick in the draft and have several needs, but the recent batch of projections have them going with the same player.
Bucky Brooks published his second mock draft of the year. He has the Cardinals going with an offensive tackle.
As boring as it sounds, the pick makes sense. The Cardinals have a gaping hole at right tackle and uncertainty at quarterback. Locking down another side of the line will help whoever is starting under center.
It would mark the first time under general manager Monti Ossenfort selects a player outside the Big Ten or SEC in the first or second round of the draft, but the Cardinals recently added two former Miami assistants to their staff.
However, if Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese is on the board as he is in this mock draft, it will be hard for the Cardinals now to take him, as they also have a huge need for an edge rusher to pair with Josh Sweat.
Also, keep an eye on Ohio State safety Caleb Downs. While safety is not a premium position and Ossenfort would be out of character to go with a safety in the top five, the Cardinals love Ohio State players.
