One NFL insider has an optimistic viewpoint on how things could turn out in 2026 for the Indianapolis Colts.

Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer recently shared his offseason takeaways for every NFL team. When it came to the Colts, Breer wrote that the Colts should find themselves in the playoff hunt.

"Jones is coming back off the Achilles injury with a new contract, and a good, balanced team that should be in the playoff hunt is counting on him," wrote Breer. "The good news is Jones met all his marks this spring. And, I’m told, if things keep going the way they have, he’ll start working in team drills at the start of camp, which is a good sign for where he is."

The Colts certainly have their question marks -- don't get me wrong. Pass rusher depth, the linebacker position, WR3, and what version of Jones will Indianapolis see this season are all unknowns, to varying degrees.

That said, one can also see a path forward for this team to find success in 2026. Although last season ended terribly, the Colts did find themselves at 8-2 over halfway through that season. The team believes that success can be replicated and sustained this year.

Around Jones is what should be a good offensive line unit and a very strong run game led by Jonathan Taylor. In the passing game, Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, and Tyler Warren will be Jones' top targets.

Defensively, the Colts have what could be a top secondary unit, while Laiatu Latu continues to ascend, and inside, DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart remain.

While Jones' play will determine the ceiling of the 2026 Colts, the team around him can help make his job easier.

However, in addition to the uncertainties listed above, the Colts also face a very tough start to the season with their schedule, and these Shane Steichen teams have to show that they can finish seasons strong -- something that the Colts have been unable to do over the years.

If you looked into your crystal ball and told me the Colts won only seven games in 2026, I'd believe you. If you told me they got to the 10-win mark, I'd believe that as well.
