As the Shedeur Sliding Saga continues deep into Saturday's fourth round of the NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers keep adding to the drama by ... ignoring him.

Despite having journeymen Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson as the only quarterbacks on their roster, the Steelers in the fourth round again bypassed the polarizing Colorado star. With the 123rd overall pick they selected Ohio State linebacker Jack Sawyer, who was in integral part of the Buckeyes' run to last season's National Championship.

It was the third time Pittsburgh passed on Sanders, who at one point was projected as the No. 1 overall pick but is enduring an epic fall due to too little elite athleticism and arm strength and - reportedly - too much entitlement and arrogance.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter echoed on Saturday what Steelers' owner Art Rooney II said (a day earlier about the reason for Pittsburgh not selecting a quarterback. The explanation: Aaron Rodgers.

"They still have a feeling of confidence that Aaron Rodgers is going to wind up in Pittsburgh," said during ESPN's coverage of the draft's fourth round. "That could have contributed to their decision to bypass a quarterback in this draft."

The Steelers, however, have a contract offer on the table and the 41-year-old future Hall of Famer has yet to make a decision on it. Call it what you want.

Asked a few days ago if the situation with Rodgers has any effect on what the Steelers intend to do in the NFL Draft, head coach Mike Tomlin said, “It does not.”

Sounds like Tomlin and Rooney II aren't on the same page in their public comments about Rodgers and the draft. But they are in unison on one thing: not drafting Shedeur Sanders.
