According to ESPN’s Seth Walder, the Kansas City Chiefs' front office only achieved an average performance in the 2026 NFL offseason. The veteran writer gave the team a C+ grade for the decisions that Brett Veach has made in the last few months.

”The team did not renew offensive coordinator Matt Nagy's contract and brought former coordinator Eric Bieniemy back,” Walder said. “Kansas City also made a high-profile free agent signing in reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. I can't endorse spending real money at running back, especially for a player who hasn't shown special receiving ability in his NFL career, but Walker will be an upgrade to the Chiefs' running game.”

In addition to the acquisition of Walker, Chiefs also signed Khyiris Tonga, Justin Fields and L’Jarius Sneed in free agency. These moves, combined with Veach's selections in the 2026 NFL Draft — including Mansoor Delane, Peter Woods and R Mason Thomas — have left Kansas City with $4.1 million in cap space.
