With Taylor Decker's recent release, the Lions will be looking for a new OT in the draft. While the 1st round would be the ideal time to get one, a later-round option may provide good value. Markel Bell is an option in the mid-rounds who has the massive size to anchor one of the OT positions.

Here is the excerpt of my medical report on Markel Bell:

(Ages in parentheses are at start of 2026 season and are factored into the concern level. Injury info and ages based on available public information are unverified and subject to update. Games played data courtesy of sports-reference.com.)

Markel Bell, OT (uncertain age, 22?) - Miami

Projected round 3-4

Concern level 0/10

  • 2025: 16/16 games
  • 2024: 12/13 games. Missed 1 game at end of regular season for unknown reasons.
  • 2023-2022: Played at Holmes Community College

There are no reports of any injuries for Bell which makes him very clean. His age will need verification though.

If you want a young Dan Skipper clone, this guy might be it. He stands a towering 6’ 9” and weighs 358 lbs. With Skipper recently joining the Lions coaching staff as an offensive assistant, a mentor who can look Bell eye-to-eye is already in place.
