Nashville (and the Tennessee Titans) will host Super Bowl LXIV in 2030, the NFL announced Tuesday.
"The 2019 NFL draft in Nashville was one of the great fan events in our history," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "Super Bowl LXIV at the new stadium is the next step in this remarkable football journey."
The Titans are currently building a new stadium that is on track to be ready in time for the 2027 NFL season. It's notable that NFL owners approved Nashville as a Super Bowl host city while the stadium is still under construction, allowing Tennessee to host the Big Game in the stadium's third season.
Why is that relevant to Denver Broncos fans? Because the Broncos are in the early stages of planning a new stadium, with a goal of having it built in time for the 2031 NFL season. If the league follows a similar timeline as they did for the Titans, Denver could potentially be approved as a Super Bowl host city while the stadium is still under construction, with the third season after opening being a potential target date.
If the Broncos' stadium opens in 2031, the team could potentially host a Super Bowl following the 2033 season (in early 2034). The NFL announced the Nashville Super Bowl four years early. If they did similar for Denver, a vote could happen as early as 2030. All of this is speculative, of course, as the Broncos have not even started construction yet.
One of the items the NFL highlighted with the Nashville bid was how well the city did hosting a draft. Washington, DC. and Minneapolis are set to host drafts in 2027 and 2028, respectively. Denver has expressed interest in hosting a draft, and it wouldn't be surprising to see the city host the big event before the Broncos' new stadium opens.
