Neymar has walked away from negotiations with FC Cincinnati, frustrated by lack of progress, according to a report June 25 from The Athletic's Tom Bogert.

Bogert added that FC Cincinnati made no official offer to the Brazilian soccer star despite an April visit to Brazil from general manager Chris Albright and co-chief executive officer Jeff Berding with Neymar and his father.

Neymar, who turned 34 years old in February, ultimately felt decision makers weren't serious in their pursuit, according to Bogert.

FC Cincinnati had preliminary talks with Neymar, according to a report April 9 from Bogert. Neymar downplayed reports that he was in talks with FC Cincinnati for a transfer.

Neymar captains Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Santos and is playing for Brazil's national team in the FIFA World Cup. Neymar's contract with Santos expires at the end of 2026.

Chicago Fire FC was among MLS teams that reportedly attempted to sign Neymar when he left Al Hilal in 2025.
