Can’t be money because Kubiak is going to cost just as much if not more.
Interesting Riveras name has suddenly appeared now even though he was supposedly interviewed 2weeks ago.

Get ready to welcome Ronny.
I think Rivera's just being reported because it was a story everyone missed. The story I'm seeing today is Kubiak says he would rather go back to the Seahawks than coach the Cardinals. Monti's going to have to make a hell of a sell to get him.

I started the cycle wanting Kubiak... I don't think it's realistic.

Honestly, this is like letting it ride in Blackjack, at this point I'd rather just take LaFleur and come home with a decent amount of money instead of busting and ending up with nothing.
I got a better chance of getting a piece of Tiffany amber theisean than the cardinals do of hiring Kubiak…just offer it to lafleur and be done with it

That was my first crush. But all that said, if we do get Kubiak, we'll probably all be dancing and singing Monti's praise.

Can’t do the koolaid anymore with this organization. Patriots won 4 games last year and they’re back in the Super Bowl.

The Suns have been kicking ass and taking names with players from the developmental league despite not playing at full strength because of injuries.
Kudos to the Patriots! I respect them a ton. They’re owned by someone that learned how to win a long time ago. They also spent $200 million in FA, stayed healthy, had the easiest schedule in football, and had an MVP caliber QB. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have the worst ownership in ANY sport, broke an NFL record for injuries, play in the NFCW against 3 of the BEST HC’s in the league, and lost their QB in the 3rd game. I’ve watched the NFL for well over 60+ years. Guess what? Injuries DO MATTER. Contrary to the bs line of next man up, the teams that stay the healthiest are the ones that hoist the Lombardi at the end of the year.

Not saying he's always wrong, but he is MOST obviously biased and has a bone to pick. He writes for a GD betting website. Needs roommates to make rent, I imagine. JK.
Pretty moronic comment indeed. I’m married, retired after 40 years in Corporate Management, have 4 adult kids, 9 grandchildren, and living very comfortably off my retirement accounts. What I do now is strictly for fun, because I love it & I’m really good at it too. I’m a stats freak, always have been, and track NFL injury reports like few others. The only bone I have to pick is with the Bidwill family, in that they have made being a Cardinal fan for 62+ years extremely challenging and frustrating. My kids have already been instructed that when I die, I want 6 Cardinal players to be my pallbearers. That way they can let me down one last time.

While this could easily blow up in the cards face, they do have the ability to interview in depth both candidates and get a unique perspective each could bring. Both candidates were probably in top 3-4 to start. The way the new hires for other teams fell was huge and honestly lucky for the Cards. They could still get one of them or none of them and that’s the gamble they are taking.

Maybe they interviewed Rivera to be the GM or a powerful FO position. Mikey is consulting with him and there's a difference of opinion between him and Monti.

I think it would depend on who he could bring as staff

Being a 1st time HC he would need a strong staff
Absolutely it does, but that goes for every head coach. I am not sure that Weaver has a lot of good connections from prior coaching stuff. Seems to me that Frank Smith - McDaniels’ right hand man - is the best option. Of course, Weaver could have many connections we just don’t know about.

The PHNX crew are usually half glass full with their takes. Today they are absolutely thrashing the decision to let MLF leave in favor of an interview with Kubiak. Called it amateur hour and a complete lack of self awareness about the Cardinals reputation.
That is also where I am at. I still don’t understand why it matters who hires first? Did you guys really dream about Jeff Hafley or Jesse Minter? Todd Monken or Mike McCarthy? When this all started I had four favorites, and three of them are still not hired by anyone, and all three will even have had second interviews.

I wanted them to hire LaFleur right away, but I think it is obvious that Kubiak has been the preferred option all along. A pure guess is that he was for many teams going into this cycle, but either other candidates blew those teams away, or they just didn’t want to wait for Kubiak.

And then people act like it is a sure thing that any coach would prefer the Raiders. What if the candidate doesn’t like Mendoza? What if the candidate is scared of the crazy structure of that organization (Brady mengeling in stuff. Mark Davis being more volcano-spontaneous than Bidwill)? Why are people still using salary cap as an argument as if the salary cap had any team building impact at all? Why are people focused on stadiums and completely ignore that the Cards will have new training facilities (you know, where coaches by far spent most of their time). You have no idea what Kubiak is thinking.

I don’t understand why so many assume that the Cardinals have screwed up this process. I am not saying they will for sure get one of the three best candidates, but they at least have the option, and that is much more than I dared to hope for when they fired Gannon.

Maybe he should have considered that before signing on! It's not like Monti was unaware of what the QB situation was when he agreed to be general manager. He wasn't assigned to the Cardinals, he took the job and talked up the QB, and then subsequently failed completely.

Blaming it all on a guy who hasn't been here for 4 years is not intellectually honest.

He didn't know he was ass. Would you assume the QB that was just signed for $55m a year was pretty good? I would.

But then any GM that took the job would have been saddled with the same ass quarterback and nothing would be any different.

Quarterback or not for an offensive HC the Cardinals are a better option than the Raiders.

Sure, Raiders might add Mendoza. But as things stand their receivers are Jack Bech, Tre Tucker and Tyler Lockett.

Their O line is worse, they have Kolton Miller but then Dylan Parham, Jordon Meredith, JPJ and DJ Glaze.

They have Jeanty and Bowers, who aside from Kolton Miller are the only guys you don't want to replace. The defense isn't much better.

I know the haters will try rag on our roster but it's clearly better.

Kubiak may still choose the rookie QB though, or more likely decide to stay in Seattle.

Why is it “haters” when not praising this organization? You refuse to accept slander for a front office that deserves it, it’s almost admirable.

It's haters because some always want to see the worst when our roster is clearly better.
