i would be ok with Saleh as HC + m McDaniel as OC

after Tua, McDaniel probably views Kyler as a giant upgrade

Don't you worry, Bidwill has got this lol, he'll get him at a discounted rate also.
It’s not so much about agreeing, it’s more about offering options and giving them consideration. I wasn’t even thinking about Weaver but when I researched him and asked around I'm impressed the Cards are bringing him in for an interview. He’s a candidate I could get behind. He’s not the only one but he’s on my short list.

Just keep in mind that Mike McDonald didn’t have a lot of juice when he was hired by Seattle. Sean McVay was a punchline when he was hired in LA. Shanahan was highly regarded but also was a joke for the 28-3 debacle in the Super Bowl.

Juice and fan engagement is a terrible metric to use for evaluating competing head coaching candidates. We’re not going to have nearly enough or the right information to hold a reasonable opinion.

Except we’ll know who selected the person, that the selectors are boobs, and so in all likelihood the new coach will be a short-term dope.

The biggest and most interesting factor will be the staff the new hire brings in. Maybe Gannon was just putting the best face on the Dollar General assistants he was forced to bring in.

It’s annoying we have to compete with yet another organization in the Dolphins. There are so many openings! When we hired Gannon we were only competing against 4 other teams, not 7!

Re: Weaver as DC
That would be a lateral move for Weaver. Not allowed.
Not that I think Kubiak + Weaver is a likely possibility... But with McDaniel fired, Weaver is pretty much in limbo as a DC without a HC (or GM!). Whoever ends up the Dolphins HC might not want him, and even before they hire an HC, it would be super uncool of the Dolphins not to let him take another DC job if offered, while also not committing to keep him under a TBD HC. So Weaver as DC in AZ does seem possible.

Good thought

THIS IS GROSS. I HAVE READ THIS SO MANY TIMES ON THIS BOARD SINCE IT WAS ANNOUNCED. The latent racism in calling a black coach's interview a "Rooney Rule" interview is so icky. Whether you (the royal you, slan, this is for everyone who has posited this)mean it that way or not, you are essentially saying that the ONLY reason a black coach is getting an interview, is because he is black. As if running a top 3 D on a 14-3 team isn't enough. Jesus H Christ.

Every one of you who is comfortable typing this sentiment needs to check yourself. Im out on the topic.

Im not responding to any inevitable criticisms of my viewpoint. Go look in a mirror.
Schutd, I hear you and applaud your stance on this. I personally hate this rule with a passion and share your view that it's ridiculous to think that Vance Joseph, Raheem Morris, Brian Flores or any other black coach is unworthy or unqualified to get a chance to interview here. I have such a distrust of the rule in the first place, so I often don't even bat an eye with those types of comments. Who really knows with the way these orgs go about their business if it truly is to find the best candidate or to meet the quota. I just want the BEST man to be hired and there are certainly men in consideration who are worthy. There's no real way to determine it, so I just hope that African American coaches continue to get opportunities and compete on an equal playing field. Preciate you having the guts to say this.
