how did this guy become owner?
He has a point. The taxes in Oregon are horrible. There are other cities that would like a basketball team. There is a reason that the only major league professional team of any kind in Oregon is the Trailblazers.

He could move to Seattle, Greenville/Spartanburg, Austin, Nashville, Tampa, or Jacksonville.

I can understand the tax perspective and give him some slack but he's notoriously cheap as he tried offering a college coach less he was making coaching college and finally signed an assistant as their head coach on a 1 year deal, all after Splitter overachieved and wasn't asking for a crazy salary. The owner is just super cheap. Had these things happened in a different order, he'd get more grace but after the coach debacle he doesn't have public favor on his side.

He makes Sarver look like Colangelo in his spending. With the expansion looming as well, I can't see other owners being happy he's messing with their payday to try and get a stadium also.
