Newcastle United are preparing for a significant summer rebuild, with multiple positions of the starting XI set to be overhauled this summer with the acquisitions of multiple reinforcements.

According to iNews’ Mark Douglas, the Magpies are seeking at least four new starters ahead of next season.

“Perhaps fans should buckle up. In addition to the summer of incomings – at least four starters are being sought, with a goalkeeper, striker, right-back and midfielder on their shopping list – it feels likely that there will be a high-profile outgoing on too,” Douglas wrote.

The positions identified by Douglas include a new starting goalkeeper, a striker, a right-back and a midfielder to strengthen Eddie Howe’s core XI, with many players currently in the starting unit expected to leave—among those: Bruno, Tino Livramento, and Sandro Tonali.

The report discusses the speculation surrounding the futures of Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, making it clear that there is a real possibility that a major departure is likely to go along and facilitate any incoming transfers.

It’s fair to expect Newcastle to approach the window way more carefully than last summer, when the never-ending saga involving Alexander Isak disrupted the preparations for this season before his move to Liverpool and left NUFC scrambling for solutions and landing two forwards that have produced in the negatives when compared to what they cost the organization.

With European qualification unlikely and another trip to the Champions League out of reach, the recruiting strategy of the Magpies will be influenced by financial considerations and constraints, as well as finding some squad balance and trying to find gems with top-tier players likely to choose other, more glamorous destinations.
