Newcastle United could reportedly revisit one of new manager Matthias Jaissle’s former transfer targets as the Magpies continue to reshape their squad amid a turbulent summer.

Algerian outlet La Gazette du Fennec claims Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa has emerged as a player of interest after Jaissle agreed to become Newcastle’s new head coach at the start of August.

The report says the German coach previously wanted to bring the Algeria international to Al Ahli before the move collapsed because the 24-year-old preferred to continue his career in Europe.

“Anis Hadj Moussa is expected to leave Feyenoord Rotterdam in the coming days,” the report says. “The winger’s transfer is in the works. The Algerian international dreams of playing in the Premier League, and Matthias Jaissle, who agreed to have him under his wing at Al Ahli SC, could ask Newcastle United to make a move for the Algerian international.”

La Gazette du Fennec adds that Al Ahli had previously submitted a €35 million offer to Feyenoord, coupled with what was described as a ”staggering salary,” but the winger turned down the move to the Saudi Pro League.

That report doesn’t include Feyenoord’s valuation of the Paris-born winger, but Transfermarkt has a low €23 million market value attached to him. That said, Feyenoord should be under no immediate pressure to sell because Hadjs Moussa remains under contract until 2030.

No formal talks between Newcastle and Feyenoord have been reported or confirmed by either club, and the reported interest is for now only a simple rumor as Jaissle starts his tenure in Tyneside.
