New York Yankees trade pitch finally moves on from Jasson Dominguez, but the return is underwhelming originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Yankees are in a weird position if they decide to move on from Jasson Dominguez, though it seems very possible. The question for the Yankees, if they trade him, is what they can get for him.
In a recent trade proposal, Zachary Rotman of FanSided pitched a trade with the Atlanta Braves that would send New York’s former top prospect to the NL.
Braves Receive: Dominguez
Yankees Receive: Dylan Lee, Didier Fuentes
“The fan base that'd probably need more convincing is the Yankees' fan base, and I don't exactly blame them,” he wrote.
“Ever since he was signed to a record-setting bonus as a 16-year-old, Dominguez has been dubbed the next big thing. Giving up on him this soon for Dylan Lee and Didier Fuentes sounds unforgivable, but what other choice do the Yankees have?”
Dominguez has long been viewed as the Yankees' most exciting young star. He arrived in the Yankees system with huge hype after signing as a teenage international prospect. Some compared him to Mickey Mantle and other all-time greats before he even saw a pitch in the show.
The return would give New York pitching help, which is never a bad thing. Lee has been a reliable bullpen arm, but it’s also tough to say that trading Dominguez for him would make sense.
