Atlanta Braves trade pitch would make everyone forget about Jurickson Profar by landing generational prospect originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Atlanta Braves need an outfielder amid the whole Jurickson Profar mess, and could look to add an impact bat if they want to strengthen their lineup. A trade would be expensive at this stage for a player who would help Atlanta, but that just goes to show the position Profar put them in.
Zachary Rotman of FanSided recently pitched a trade that would send highly touted Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez to Atlanta in exchange for pitching help, a trade that should excite Braves fans.
Braves Receive: Dominguez
Yankees Receive: Dylan Lee, Didier Fuentes
“Dominguez has a ton of room to grow, and doesn't even hit arbitration until next offseason. He's under club control through 2029. It's rare that you'd see a player of his potential available this soon.
“The Braves can start him as their DH to begin the year, and then once Murphy is healthy, re-assess. Perhaps Dominguez can move to left field full-time. Perhaps he needs more seasoning in Triple-A and Mike Yastrzemski can be the left fielder. Ensuring that the likes of Dominic Smith and Eli White don't play regularly in Profar's absence is why the Braves need to add a bat. Again, it's rare to see one as talented as Dominguez be available this time of year,” he wrote.
Signed to a massive bonus as a teenager, the switch-hitting outfielder has long been viewed as a potential cornerstone talent if his development went the way it was supposed to.
The issue? New York might not have a place for him to play on its team right now.
