New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown criticized the officials following their 115-111 Game 3 loss against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, which cut their series advantage to 2-1.
During his postgame presser, Brown pointed out the disparity in free throw attempts in favor of San Antonio. However, Karl-Anthony Towns subsequently disagreed with his head coach’s assessment about how their impressive 13-game playoff winning streak ended last night.
“Nah, that ain’t what cost us the game. Turning the ball over didn’t do what got us 13 wins in a row. That’s how you lose a game. We didn’t do what we did for the 13, we decided to play differently, and it ain’t gonna work when you’re throwing the ball away. It’s a clear indication of how you’re going to lose the game, especially in the playoffs,” Towns stated.
To Towns’ point, the New York Knicks had more turnovers than the San Antonio Spurs (13 to eight). Jalen Brunson had five of them, so he has to take care of the ball better in Game 4.

Mikal Bridges had a game to forget in Game 3, as he only had two points and five rebounds on 1-for-5 shooting from the field in 29 minutes. After the game, the New York Knicks swingman was brutally honest about his performance.
“We gotta be better. I gotta be better for next game. Offensively, we got a little stagnant. We just gotta keep moving and spacing. They just played harder than us, more physical,” Bridges said.
“It starts with me defensively. I think I did a bad job defensively. They scored a good amount of times when I was in throughout the game. For me, it starts with defense and feeding off of that,” he continued.
