New York Jets News: Jets Release First Unofficial Depth Chart

Good morning Gang Green Nation! The New York Jets released their first unofficial depth chart yesterday. As is tradition, this isn’t something put together by the coaching staff, so we should view it with a modicum of skepticism.

One thing that immediately stands out – no rookies are listed with the first team. If this was a chart developed by the coaching staff that would be a pretty concerning development, given that the Jets made three first round picks in April. If none of them could crack the starting lineup, well, that would not be a great first impression for these players. However, given that NFL teams traditionally “make rookies earn it,” and given this was put together by the PR staff, I doubt this means much of anything. David Bailey will play a big role this season. Kenyon Sadiq will as well, provided he is healthy. Omar Cooper is likely to fill the WR3 role, and may challenge Adonai Mitchell for WR2. In the end this initial depth chart is just a rough draft written by those who won’t be making the actual decisions. We’ll know more once the preseason games are played. Until then, the actual depth chart remains a work in progress.
