The New York Giants have emerged as the clear victors of the 2026 NFL coaching carousel, earning widespread praise for their decisive and aggressive pursuit of the cycle’s top prize, including from CBS Sports.

New York finalized a five-year contract with former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh before he could even hold scheduled interviews with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. The move prevented other teams from gaining traction and secured a proven winner for a franchise that has long craved direction.

The Giants acted quickly and aggressively to land the top available coach of this hiring cycle, finalizing a five-year deal with former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh before he could take planned meetings with the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons.

As we wrote last week, Harbaugh should bring immediate stability and competence to a Giants organization that has desperately needed both for at least the past decade, cycling through coach after coach and disappointment after disappointment. Harbaugh should also bring over a strong staff of assistant coaches, and the Giants will be better for having hired him.

Harbaugh’s track record of sustained success, disciplined culture, and elite staff-building gives the Giants something they have lacked for years: A credible path back to contention.

In a cycle defined by caution and prolonged searches elsewhere, New York’s swift execution stands out as the defining win.
