New York Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson confirmed that veteran linebacker Tremaine Edmunds will wear the green dot in 2026, serving as the primary communicator between the coaching staff and the defense.

"He’s the green-dot guy. He’s done a helluva job of picking up the defense, to try to get everybody lined up. He’s another guy that the players, they enjoy being around him. I’ve been around a lot of football teams — man, this defensive group, they love being around each other," Wilson told the New York Post.

"To start a meeting, you see the high-fives and all the enjoyment, the conversations, and it’s funny, it’s like they just went and lifted weights together and they come in the meeting room like they hadn’t seen each other. They want to see each other have success."

The green dot identifies the defensive player equipped with a radio to receive play calls from the sideline. Edmunds, signed to a three-year deal in March after his release from the Chicago Bears, brings proven leadership and production.

A two-time Pro Bowler with more than 900 career tackles, he anchors an overhauled linebacker corps alongside first-round pick Arvell Reese.

Wilson has praised the unit’s chemistry and mentality as the Giants aim to restore a ferocious defensive identity under head coach John Harbaugh.
