We always see some weird moves in the NFL, and they don't always make sense.
Certain teams around the league are more aggressive than others, and as a result, they're typically going to do what's needed to ensure they have an opportunity to improve on both ends of football, even if the fit isn't as clean as it needs to be.
That would be the case if the Jacksonville Jaguars traded for somebody like AJ Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Jaguars, a team with one of the better wide receiving corps in the NFL, even without factoring in Travis Hunter, probably don't need Brown. However, it was recently brought up that Jacksonville could be in the mix for Brown if they want to get intriguing and just look to put the best roster on the field next year.
“Are they gonna make some moves in terms of how that wide receiver room is built if Travis Hunter is not going to be playing receiver as much?” James Palmer asked during an appearance on “Up and Adams” recently. “ ... I'll say this, [general manager] James Gladstone down there, he's kind of like [Rams GM] Les Snead, where you have to have him sit on his hands. He's always looking to do something big, he's always looking to try to make a move ... so I wouldn't put anything past James Gladstone down there in Jacksonville, and I wouldn't put anything past Howie [Roseman] to try to find the best deal possible.”
It was later argued that, because of the players already on the Jaguars' roster, it wouldn't really make much sense. However, that doesn't necessarily mean Jacksonville wouldn't be interested in doing so as it's looking to win a Super Bowl next year.
“For what it’s worth, the Jaguars already have somewhat of a three-headed monster in Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers and Parker Washington in their wide receiver room to go along with the aforementioned dual-threat in Hunter. That's not to say that Brown wouldn't be an upgrade over any of the three, per se, but a move for him would likely include a shake-up in a room that doesn't necessarily need one,” Mike Kadlick wrote.
