Louisiana State University is one of the biggest NFL talent producers in the nation. They are eighth all-time in total NFL Draft picks with 381 and fifth all-time in first-round picks with 51. LSU produced 15 first-round selections in the past decade alone, with five coming off the 2019 national championship team.

They know how to produce NFL talent; much like Baltimore knows how to draft, so when the Ravens took LSU OT Emery Jones in the third round, with the 91st overall pick, it was a perfect match. And Jones, a third-team Freshman All-American in 2022 and second-team All-SEC the past two years, is ready to run.

When Jones got that life-changing call from Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta Friday night, he was asked, "How would you feel about coming out to Baltimore blocking for Lamar Jackson?"

"That'd be an honor," Jones responded. "I'll put it all on the line for him."

That had to be music to Jackson's ears. A two-time NFL Most Valuable Player, Jackson is coming off his best statistical season, a campaign that produced numbers superior to both of his MVP years. It had to feel good hearing that the newest member of the unit protecting him is willing to go to war on his behalf.

DeCosta also told Jones that he was impressed by his Senior Bowl performance and his game tape.
