Catcher and center field are two of the most crucial positions in baseball.
New Boston Huron graduated players from those positions who are currently playing in college.
Myles Grace was an All-Stater centerfielder who moved on to Henry Ford Community College after hitting .436 last season.
Catcher Bradley Hughes batted .438 with 26 RBI and 35 runs in 2025 to earn a spot on the Lourdes University roster.

Those kinds of losses would be devastating for most teams.

The Chiefs still are packed with talent, with six starters back who hit .329 or better.
Who will be the Monroe County Region's best baseball player in 2026?
They headline a deep baseball talent pool for the Monroe County Region for the 2026 season.
Here are some players to watch. They are listed in alphabetical order with comments from their coaches.
Noah Banas, New Boston Huron, senior, 2b: A four-year starter who has committed to Saginaw Valley. He led the Monroe County Region with a .510 batting average last season.
Luke Beaudrie, Jefferson, junior, of: Hit .340 last season and scored 37 runs. “Offensive catalyst and takes away a lot of hits in the outfield.”
Joe Borowski, Gibraltar Carlson, senior, p-c-if: “A solid bat and great defensively. Has a great mound presence and we will look to use him as a two-inning guy or closer.”
Noah Borowski, Gibraltar Carlson, sophomore, c-if: Voted a team captain as a sophomore. “A very good leader. Top-end arm and will again be a huge part of our lineup both offensively and defensively.”
Jake Brewer, Jefferson, senior, c-p-u: Led the Bears with a .423 average last season. “Experienced player. Improving each day behind the plate.”
Griffin Brush, Bedford, senior, p-of: Made honorable mention All-Southeastern Conference last season .293 with 18 RBI, 21 runs, 7 stolen bases while going 2-0 with .438 ERA.
Ryan Burgor, Airport, senior, of-p: “Ryan battled some injuries last year but was one of our better hitters when healthy. We expect Ryan to be a leader this year in the outfield while also providing us with innings on the mound.”
Cameron Cole, SMCC, senior, p: Will pitch for Henry Ford next year after compiling a 3.56 ERA as a junior with 42 strikeouts in 37.67 innings. “A strikeout pitcher who has a ton of experience over the last two years.”
Steel Decator, SMCC, senior, p: Went 5-1 last season with a 1.67 ERA. “Had a big win over New Boston Huron last year, and competes every time he is on the mound.”
Cameron Dessellier, Milan, junior, p: “Cam is one of the best pitchers in the league. He has showcased this on the mound the last two years. This winter, he put in the necessary work to elevate his ability.’
Tre Eitniear, Whiteford, junior, p-ss: Stuck out just two times last season while carrying a .465 average and leading the Monroe County Region with 5 home runs. His ERA was 0.81.
Zayne Emch, Whiteford, senior, c-of-p: Four-year varsity player who hit .354 in 2025. “Zayne is a true utility player being a catcher, outfielder, and pitcher.”
Cam Fairchild. Dundee, senior, p-if: A four-year varsity player who hit .355 with 25 RBI last season and posted a 5-2 record on the mound.
Jude Flowers, Summerfield, junior, if-p: Tied for the Monroe County Region lead with 39 stolen bases last year. “Jude is our leadoff hitter and the spark plug to our offense. He’s a great pitcher and gives us a chance to win every time he takes the mound.”
Jakob Furkas, New Boston Huron, junior, of-p: Part of the Taylor Little League World Series championship team as a 12-year-old, he hit .349 with 28 RBI and 17 runs in 2025.
Jordan Godfrey, Flat Rock, sophomore, p-ss: Stroked 10 doubles and scored 30 runs last season. “Jordan is going to earn his sixth varsity letter in his third sport and he is on a sophomore.”
Bret Gennoe, Jefferson, junior, p-if: Batted .326 last spring and showed great pitching potential. “Counting on Bret to be a workhouse on the mound this year.”
Angelo Graves, Dundee, junior, of: A defensive standout in centerfield. “Looking for a breakout season offensively.”
Luke Henegar, Whiteford, senior, p-if: An Adrian College commit who is coming off an injury. “One of our top pitchers and infielders.”
Reece Kalb, Summerfield, senior, if-of-p: “Reece can play any position and plays them all very well. He’s one of our senior leaders and helps make everyone around him better.”
Russell LaRocca, Summerfield, senior, of: “Russell has the best range in center field of anyone I’ve coached so far. He can get to balls that most guys can’t and he took away a lot of extra bases last year.”
Carson Liedel, Monroe, senior, of: The Auburn recruit batted .451 with 27 hits, 26 runs and 13 stolen bases last season.
Brody Leonhard, Bedford, senior, of: The top returning hitter for the Mules with a .299 average that included 29 hits, 7 doubles, 14 runs and 8 stolen bases. Also had a .950 fielding percentage.
Anderson Moore, Erie Mason, senior, p-if: Recorded 46 strikeouts in just 30.3 innings last season. “Has been our best/most consistent pitcher since his freshman year.”
Brody Koehl, Erie Mason, senior, p-if: “Expected to carry a big workload on the mound while sharing the shortstop duties (with Anderson Moore) while not pitching.”
T.J. Langenderfer, Erie Mason, cf-p: “Had a strong sophomore season at the plate. We will need him to help the freshmen who will be on either side of him in the outfield and be a big bat in the middle of our line-up.”
Kyle Link, Airport, junior, c: Led the Jets with .339 average last season as the lead-off hitter. “We expect big things from Kyle in the field as a catcher. His toughness will be an important attribute to the team.”
Lukas Linzell, SMCC, senior, c: The University of Toledo commit batted .396 last season. “Controls the game from behind the dish.”
Brayden Mason, Dundee, sophomore, p-ss: Went 4-2 on the hill as a freshman and will take over at shortstop this season.
Dayton Miller, New Boston Huron, senior, cf-p: Four-year varsity player who batted .395 with 35 RBI. He will be the lead-off hitter for the Chiefs.
Cash Moczydlowsky, New Boston Huron, junior, p-ss: The Toledo recruit hit .437 with 26 RBI last season and went 7-0 on the mound with a 1.39 ERA. “Hitters he faced only boasted a batting average of .166 against Muzzy.”
Trent Pfeiffer, Ida, senior, if: Batted .324 with 33 runs and 28 stolen bases in 2025. “Was our spark plug of the team last year.”
Devin Rayburn, Bedford, senior, p-if: Will be asked to lead the pitching staff for the Mules. He had a 3.07 ERA last season with 37 strikeouts in 41 innings.
David Riddle, Flat Rock, junior, of: Finished 2026 with a .352 batting average. “David is on the fastest high school kids I have seen run in a long time and has a gorgeous swing from the left side of the plate.”
Cam Riggs, Ida, senior, c-3b-p: The Spring Arbor commit led the Blue Streaks last season with a .406 average, 15 doubles and 45 RBI. “Ready for a big season.”
Dominic Russo, New Boston Huron, junior, p-of-if: Compiled a .329 average with 23 runs and 20 stolen bases last spring.
Kyle Salisbury, Gibraltar Carlson, senior, p-of: The Henry Ford commit hit .400 with 17 stolen bases last spring. “Looking for him to be strong on the mound as one of our top-end arms and continue to do what he has done the past two seasons with his bat and defense.”
Asher Simmons, Monroe, junior, c-3b-p: The talented catcher also will be one of the starting pitchers for the Trojans this season. He hit .327 with 33 hits, 14 runs and 18 walks last season.
Owen Snyder, Ida, senior, p-ss: “Has put up ace numbers the last two years.” He is 17-4 with a 1.74 ERA over the first three years of his varsity career.
Brenden Smith, Airport, senior, ss-p: The shortstop will be asked to play a bigger role on the mound. “He threw well in limited action as a junior, but will be asked to pitch vs many of our tougher opponents this year and be a reliable fielder up the middle.”
Nickson Smith, Milan: “He showed some success as a freshman last year, but this is going to be his breakout year. I am expecting great things from him and I know he is expecting the same for himself.”
Jackson Surma, New Boston Huron, junior, 3b: Part of the Taylor Little League World Series championship team as a 12-year-old, shared MVP honors with Cash Moczydlowsky last season when he hit .380 with 40 runs and 28 RBI.
Christian Wylie, Monroe, junior, ss-2b-p: Carried a .333 average last season. “Pitched really well for us late into the season and will be a huge part of our rotation.”
Jayden Yancy, Flat Rock, senior, p: The Central Michigan recruit posted a perfect 7-0 record last season with a 0.93 to make second-team All-State last season. “It’s no secret that he is one of the very best pitchers not just in the Huron league but in the entire state.”
