A fresh 2027 NFL mock draft has connected the Carolina Panthers to an All-American defensive back.

Our friends at Draft Wire just dished out a new, post-minicamp set of first-round projections for next spring. And with the defending NFC South champions saddled into the eighth overall slot, they go with University of Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore.

Curt Popejoy writes:

The Panthers could go any number of directions here but Moore is the blue-chip cornerback in this draft and an easy pick.

Moore's selection could be rather timely for the Panthers, who might lose one of their two starting outside corners following the 2026 campaign. That would be the ascending Mike Jackson, who is entering the final season of his two-year pact.

If Jackson does depart, then Moore would probably be able to fill the spot next to Pro Bowler Jaycee Horn right away. The 6-foot-2, 194-pounder is the only college cornerback Pro Football Focus has ever given grades of at 85.0 in each of their two seasons—with an 88.4 in 2024 and a 91.8 in 2025.

The more traditional numbers have Moore at seven interceptions, 18 passes defensed and three forced fumbles over 26 games for the Fighting Irish.
