The Brooklyn Nets came into the 2026 NBA offseason with the goal of improving the roster as much as possible after amassing a lowly 20-62 record in the 2025-26 campaign. Brooklyn has made various moves towards reaching that goal by reportedly trading for Minnesota Timberwolves forward Julius Randle, among other moves, and now, they have officially brought back some of their impactful players from last season.
The Nets announced on Monday that they officially re-signed center Day'Ron Sharpe and forward Josh Minott to multi-year contracts, with the team not providing details on the finances for either deal. HoopsHype NBA insider Michael Scotto reported towards the end of June that Brooklyn planned to re-sign Sharpe to a two-year, $20 million deal while planning to re-sign Minott to a two-year, $9 million pact.
Sharpe, 24, is coming off a 2025-26 season in which he averaged 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 60.1% from the field and 67.8% from the free-throw line. With Nic Claxton being traded to the Chicago Bulls, Sharpe is in line to begin next season as the starting center, barring Brooklyn acquiring another center before the season starts.
Minott, 23, is coming off the best stretch of basketball in his four-year career after coming into the league as the 45th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Memphis. In his 16 games that he played for the Nets following the February deadline, Minott averaged 10.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49.1% from the field and 39.5% from behind the three-point line.
Based on reports from Scotto and ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, Minott's contract has a team option for the second year, but there wasn't any mention on whether Sharpe's deal has a team option for the second year. With the free-agency moratorium lifting on Monday, Brooklyn will be able to officially announce all of the pending moves that they've made to this point, assuming that nothing has fallen through in the meantime. Sharpe and Minott are officially back in Brooklyn for next season, though.
