Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin had a solid rookie season for the Nets as he was eventually thrust into the position of being a contributor in the rotation within a short amount of time. Brooklyn selected Demin with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and while he didn't begin the season as a starter, he stepped into that role quickluy thanks to his development.

Demin, 20, finished the 2025-26 season with averages of 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.5% from behind the three-point line in 52 games played (45 starts). Demin's season was cut short due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot that ended his season in early March after Brooklyn was clearly out of the running for the postseason.

What was interesting to see with Demin was how his role within the rotation changed over the course of the season as he went from being one of the main ball-handlers to spending more time on the perimeter as a floor-spacer. Granted, part of the reason that Demin became more of an off-ball guard was due to the emergence of fellow rookie Nolan Traore at the point guard spot.

Be that as it may, Demin showed early on that he was ready to produce for head coach Jordi Fernandez, especially when it came to his three-point shooting. Demin not only made 2.4 three-pointers per game, but he finished the season with 124 three-pointers made, placing fourth among rookies with Charlotte Hornets forward Kon Knueppel leading the class with 273 three-pointers made.

Demin showed growth in various areas of his game, including his perimeter shooting and his passing, but he still has to improve with his ball security and finishing at the rim over length. However, given that he was able to show over the course of his rookie season, Demin proved that the Nets made a good choice by taking him where they did and he should be able to reach greater heights next season.
