Off-seasons for awhile now have been periods of a much growlier nature than in the winning times. Off-season national titles are sarcastically celebrated. Fans swear (or, in most cases, re-swear) that they are DONE with Husker football and this time THEY REALLY MEAN IT. But they also love their portal pick-ups and their new recruiting class and their new coach(es). It’s all over the map as the wait for late August or September crawls at a snail’s pace.
And every now and then, the athletic department decides to tinker with the uniforms. Not those 3rd or alternate jerseys, mind you. The big ones. The base home and aways. I’m a fashion fool, so my first glance is usually “meh”. But then I wait a couple hours and head to Twitter where I usually learn that the new look is borderline treasonous and a disgrace to our state and its proud & storied history much like this rendition of the Canadian anthem in “Goon”:
