(THIS SURVEY BROUGHT TO YOU BY FanDuel)

Well first, let’s start with this week’s question as it was originally written in the survey as the answers for the graphic are almost always abbreviated and therefore don’t always read in the results he way they were intended:

So, 6:15 kickoff, an average game length of just under 3 & 1/2 hrs (3:26 is the avg.) plus the 30 minute break to set up afterward (which might be generous) and we’re looking at the show starting at around 10:15 after the game.

So, thoughts on North Dakota post-game concert:

A) Yes, please, love it!

B) Pass on Cole Swindell, but open to the idea.

C) Nope nope, game day by itself is plenty.

So, basically, the choices were pro-football + concert, anti-football + concert, or pro-post-game-show but not a fan of the act. Annnnd pick. I just wanted to keep it simple, but threw Choice B in there, so as not to dismiss folks who wouldn’t mind a show after the game, just not this one.

Here’s how the votes shook out:

  • Not surprisingly, a hard no led the way with 45%. Let’s face it, if you’re making a full day of game day with some tailgating, barcrawling, local pre-game house party or whatever, the game itself can already be an eight hour affair. This suggests many will be heading home no matter who takes the stage afterward.
  • 12% love their live music and most are probably Swindell fans as well.
  • Here’s the one which merits some discussion. 43% are down for a show – but not Cole Swindell. Totaling things up, 55% of respondents are in favor of a post-game concert.
  • The first step into concerts in Memorial was in 1988 for Willie Nelson’s Farm Aid 3, a 10-hour show with 40 acts. More recently, Garth Brooks performed in 2021 and Zach Bryan earlier this year. With Swindell set to be the next performer, it may beg the question – should we perhaps give some consideration to a genre other than country?
  • Two things – 1) Country fans – don’t crash out. Nebraska has a strong following and country acts will of course be part of live music in Memorial going forward. 2) In the grand scope of things, it’s not that huge a deal – this particular scenario would likely happen only once a season & only against a lower-tier opponent.
  • There are also other factors at play such as the charge to move onto the field after the game and is this being done only to try and insure a sell-out in a game which may be in danger of breaking the streak? Please don’t hesitate to throw your thoughts on any of this in the comments below.

  • Squawk fans believe the end of his era is nearing, but that he will be around in 2027 and possibly beyond.

  • Perhaps we should poll the Domers on how they think such a match-up would go after finishing 2025-6 with an undefeated run of hypothetical victories on the way to their hypothetical CFP national title after being left out of the dance.
  • It’s not a bad idea. This way Notre Dame could start by just working on becoming #1 in Indiana again.
  • And if it’s on the regular season schedule, they couldn’t quit.
