Nebraska men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg was named to the Naismith Coach of the Year Watch List. The program was officially announced last week.
The team is having a historic season, with a 23-4 record so far. They started the season 20-0 and are in ideal shape for March Madness. There is no denying that they have had an incredible season.
The program has a mix of young and veteran talent that is helping carry the load for this team. Transfers such as Pryce Sanford and the return of Rienk Mast have fueled the success of the team so far.
Hoiberg is in the middle of his seventh season with the Huskers and holds a record of 107-112 in Lincoln. He is 222-168 all-time as a collegiate head coach.
It will be interesting to see whether Hoiberg wins the award by season's end. Nebraska has to finish the season strong and make some noise in March Madness play. Right now, they have to focus on the final stretch.
