Nebraska women's basketball (19-12) will face an old Big 12 Conference rival on Friday afternoon. The No. 11 Huskers will play the No. 6 Baylor Bears (24-8) in the NCAA First Round on Friday, March 20, in Durham, N.C.
Nebraska reached the First Round after defeating Richmond in the First Four on Wednesday night. The Huskers are averaging 79.2 points while allowing 67.3 points per game. The Huskers are shooting 47.9% from the field, including 35.5% from the 3-point line.
Baylor enters the tournament after dropping its last two games. The Bears fell to TCU 65-53 before suffering a 62-53 defeat to Colorado in the Big 12 Tournament. Baylor is averaging 71.4 points while allowing 60 points per game. The Bears are shooting 42.4 percent from the field, including 32.3 percent from beyond the arc.
This is the 17th meeting all-time between these two schools with Baylor holding a 10-6 edge. The former Big 12 Conference rivals have not played against each other since the Huskers left the league after the 2010-11 season.
The winner of Friday's game will play the winner of the Duke-Charleston game in the NCAA Second Round on Sunday.
