The NC State Wolfpack dominated North Carolina from the start in Tuesday's matchup between the two teams in Raleigh. While the Tar Heels shot a measly 32 percent from the field and 15 percent from the three-point line, the Wolfpack took advantage.
The game ended up being a blowout as NC State's 82-58 win was the largest by the Wolfpack over the Tar Heels since 1962. But after the game, as the Wolfpack were celebrating, things appeared to get a little chippy. At least vocally.
NC State's Quadir Copeland was seen talking to the UNC bench after the handshake line. We couldn't catch what he was saying on camera but after the game, we found out and it was directed at star freshman Caleb Wilson.
Per Noah Weiskopf, Copeland told Wilson to “lace up next time” in the handshake line. Wilson missed his second-straight game with a fracture on his hand and he's wearing a brace.
Look, the trash talk is fun. NC State deserves to celebrate and Copeland had a big game scoring 20 points to lead all scorers. But saying that is a little odd as Wilson is legit hurt and likely would have played if it was up to him.
These two teams aren't scheduled to meet again this regular season but if they do face eachother in the ACC Tournament and Wilson is healthy, I imagine he will use this as motivation.
