LeBron James has yet to make his free-agency decision. After moving on from the Los Angeles Lakers, the four-time NBA champion is weighing his next step.

Meanwhile, his agent, Rich Paul, confirmed that the Cleveland Cavaliers remain one of the teams showing strong interest in bringing James back.

The buzz has only grown in Northeast Ohio after an online update stoked speculation about the 41-year-old’s landing spot.

LeBron James Spotted with Cavaliers GM Brandon Weems Amid Free Agency

Earlier this week, James reportedly spent time in Akron, playing golf and attending an event at House Three Thirty on Friday night.

Soon after, ESPN Cleveland shared a photo of James alongside several of his former St. Vincent-St. Mary teammates.

One familiar face in that group was Cavaliers assistant general manager Brandon Weems.

Naturally, the image spread across social media, with many linking it to James’ ongoing free agency.

Weems and James played together at St. Vincent-St. Mary, and while this meeting could easily be seen as a reunion between former teammates and close friends, thetiming of the post raised eyebrows.

Currently the assistant GM for the Cavs, Weems joined the franchise in 2015, a time period that coincided with James’ second stint at Cleveland.

The two also share a close bond, with James’ agent, Paul, describing Weems as “basically a brother” to the league’s all-time leading scorer.

Cleveland is among the leading contenders to land the NBA legend, and his history with the franchise is well-documented.

In 2003, the Cavaliers drafted James with the No. 1 overall pick. And it was in Cleveland that he began his legendary career.

Across two separate runs with the franchise (2003-2010 and 2014-2018), he averaged 27.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.6 steals, winning the Cavs their first championship in 2016.

The 41-year-old’s return would immediately reshape Cleveland’s outlook.

The Cavaliers reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season behind Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen, a core that can spark some optimism with the addition of James.

Despite being in the later stage of his career, James can still contribute. He averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds last season and dragged a Luka Dončić-less Lakers to the second round of the playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, and Denver Nuggets all remain in the conversation to land the 22-time All-Star.

However, the race remains wide open, with Paul recently highlighting that no decision is expected in the coming days.

Until that changes, every public appearance and every reported connection will continue to fuel speculation about where the future Hall of Famer plays next.
