After LeBron James left the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year, there will be more eyes on the form of Luka Doncic going into 2026/27.
James has moved to the Philadelphia 76ers and will be aiming to secure them their first NBA Finals win of the 21st century.
The Lakers, meanwhile, are going to be looking to win their first championship since 2020, when they beat the Miami Heat in the showpiece.
If they are to do so, they will need a big season from Doncic, who is now gearing up for the new campaign in the gym.

Luka Doncic predicted to have MVP season by some fans
An account on X/Twitter recently shared a couple of photos of Luka working out in the gym.
But the response to the images has since been quite mixed. Some people are suggesting that the Lakers star is ‘gaining so much’ and will be the MVP of 2026/27.
One fan wrote: “MVP season loading,” with another predicting: “Your 2026-27 MVP.”
Another claimed: “Dude is coming back stronger,” and a fourth stated: “He’s gaining so much.”
However, while some are expecting big things and believe the NBA star is now stronger, a number of fans also suggested that he is now actually skinnier.
One commented: “He’s skinnier than rookie season.”
A second NBA fan tweeted: “That boy got super skinny for no reason,” and a third wrote: “Yeah, he does look skinnier.”
The LA Lakers are set to return to action in pre-season at the beginning of October, taking on the Golden State Warriors on the 6th of the month.
