The NBA has rendered a verdict after its investigation into a spat between New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson and San Antonio Spurs fans during Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
The incident with the fans occurred during and after the game and the accusation was that the fans used vulgar language toward the Knicks star, which drew multiple reactions from Brunson.
The NBA announced just hours before Game 2 on Friday night that the investigation centered around one fan in particular.
The verdict handed down by the NBA was the fan would not be allowed to sit courtside again.
“The fan was not a season-ticket holder and if he were to attend another game in this series, he would not be permitted to sit in courtside seats,” an NBA spokesperson said, SNY’s Ian Begley reported.
What that statement does not say is the fan is banned from attending the game at all.

Brunson can clearly be seen exchanging words with a fan at the scorer’s table, and then another fan appears to be shouting something at the Knicks guard, also.
Then, after the game, Brunson looked to be exchanging words with a fan or fans again while also speaking to referee Scott Foster.
“[Brunson] having some words for somebody, looks like behind the scorer’s table,” ESPN announcer Mike Breen said while the postgame words were exchanged.
“Not one of the scorers, a fan,” Breen added.
It still isn’t clear what exactly was said, but it we can assume it wasn’t pretty based on how bothered Brunson was.
While not ideal, Jalen Brunson’s spat with the fan did not overshadow what was a massively important win for the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
With the victory, the Knicks accomplished what they set out to do, which was win at least one game on the road against the San Antonio Spurs.
That shifts the home-court advantage into the Knicks’ favor, as they can win the NBA Finals without winning another road game if they hold serve at home.

The win also amounted to a dejecting loss for the Spurs, who led by as many as 14 in the third quarter before the Knicks made a run.
San Antonio also failed to stop the Knicks’ winning streak, which is now at 12 games, and New York is riding as high as ever going into Game 2 on Friday night.
