The 2025-26 season is in the books with the New York Knicks taking home the Larry O'Brien trophy. The franchise won its first title since 1973 thanks to strong contributions from everybody on the roster in order to get the job done.
Therefore, it's now time to move ahead to the new season. Free agency has begun, teams are making moves, and the Philadelphia 76ers will be looking to take down the Knicks in the coming season in an effort to win their first title since 1983.
A regular part of the NBA season is now is the annual NBA Cup--the league's in-season tournament. The Knicks ended up winning the Cup in the 2025-26 season and the Sixers will look to do the same in the upcoming season. The NBA announced the groupings for everybody in the league with Philadelphia in Group B along with the Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and Miami Heat. The Sixers will host the Knicks and the Heat and will hit the road to face the Cavs and the Pacers in group play.
The league announced that Cup play will begin on Oct. 30 and run through Nov. 27 with the quarterfinals taking place on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5. The championship game will take place on Dec. 11 at Hinkle Fieldhouse at Butler University in Indiana. That is a switch-up from it taking place in Las Vegas.
