The Celtics missed the opportunity to trade for Bucks star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo on Monday night, but Boston may still pursue a major trade.

Boston was willing to part with Jaylen Brown in exchange for Antetokounmpo, and it could still be looking to trade Brown.

If the Celtics are considering trading Brown, they might target two Cavaliers: Evan Mobley or Donovan Mitchell. NBC's NBA and college basketball analyst John Fanta suggested that it would be preferable for the Cavaliers to trade Mitchell for Brown instead of Mobley for Brown.

"I would go guard for guard rather than Evan Mobley. I'd say Donovan Mitchell for Jaylen Brown. His time as a Celtic is over," Fanta said Tuesday on 92.3 The Fan.

The Cavaliers may not want to trade either Mitchell or Mobley, but if they were to consider a deal, Mitchell would be the more likely candidate. Both Mitchell and Brown play guard positions, so it wouldn’t make sense for the Cavaliers to trade Mobley, their starting power forward, for Brown. Such a move would place Brown alongside James Harden and Mitchell, with Brown taking on the small forward role in that lineup.

It would make more sense to send Mitchell to Boston and then allow Brown to take over as the starting shooting guard.
