Napoleon Solo won Saturday’s $2 million, Grade 1 Preakness Stakes at Laurel Park.

Trained by Chad Summers and ridden by Paco Lopez, Napoleon Solo covered the 1 3/16 miles in 1:58.69 and paid $17.80 on a $2 win wager.

Iron Honor finished second, and Chip Honcho was third.

Napoleon Solo entered the Preakness off a fifth-place finish in the Grade 2 Wood Memorial on April 4 at Aqueduct. Napoleon Solo, a gray son of Liam's Map, improved to 3-0-0 in five career starts for owner Al Gold of Gold Square LLC.

The Preakness was held at Laurel Park because of renovations at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Attendance for Saturday’s race was capped at 4,800 fans.

There was no Triple Crown on the line as Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo skipped the race. Trainer Cherie DeVaux said Golden Tempo is being pointed toward the Belmont on June 6 at Saratoga.
