The Los Angeles Rams continue to work towards the 2026 season, stacking days in the Southern California sun as their star-studded roster looks to live up to the championship expectations that have been bestowed on them by the media.
One of those stars is Myles Garrett, and while he is the NFL's best defender, it appears the media attention is focused on another defender. Rams legend Aaron Donald has been debating a potential return to the team after two years in retirement, seeing an opportunity to win another ring. If he does come back, Donald and Garrett would be the first teammates to have won multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards.
Garrett was asked about Donald on Wednesday, stating that he would love to play with him but has yet to reach out regarding a potential return.
"I've told him I’d love to learn from him," Garrett said. "I've watched his tape. Obviously, I think everyone who's been a rusher from anywhere across the line, they have a lot of respect for him. I don't want to push him in one way or another. If he's here, I'm going to be excited to be his teammate, his partner in crime and I think we're going to do great things. It's a difficult thing coming back and I know he has a family. He has a lot of decisions to make. The last thing he needs is me to push him in one direction or another. I'm going to support him either way and I look forward to seeing whatever happens.”
Garrett knows it wouldn't necessarily be easy for a player to return to the NFL after two years away, but he thinks Donald could do it.
"When you get on the field and things are flying around, you've got to find a way to get your conditioning back to slow down the game once more and someone as great as he is, I think he can definitely come back and do it. It's just whether he wants to do that for however many games he chooses to play."
Already having one of the NFL's best pass rushers, adding Donald might be the piece that makes the Rams unstoppable.
